- "When I first joined EBCA in 2004, my sole intention was to promote my artwork. I had a very limited vision of what my membership in EBCA would eventually teach me. As a volunteer run organization, it is true that EBCA asks a lot of its members. While my initial instinct was to resist the requests for service, I slowly relinquished my hesitancy (faced my fears) and allowed myself to step up to the various challenges. The rewards were completely unexpected! It is because of my membership in EBCA that I am now a leader in the local arts community. EBCA has taught me the skills to be able to collaborate with other artists to open the first member owned art gallery co-operative in Lafayette. My artwork is thriving and my art business is better than I ever imagined! I continue to be committed to EBCA and the work they do to promote the visual arts (and artists) in our East Boulder communities." ~ Jocelyn Hunter, Silver Jewelry
- "I joined EBCA to participate in an open studio tour, to share my passion and sell some ceramics. Over the years, a number of galleries have contacted me about carrying my work, I’ve also been contacted to participate in many other exhibits, received calls for orders based on what people see on the EBCA website. Through my membership I’ve become more dialed into regional art scene and have been contacted to head up several large school-wide ceramic projects as well. I have participated in many outreach activities with EBCA including workshops with kids at preschool and elementary level, several of which resulted in permanent art installations. I have also worked with underserved children through Project YES which was an incredible experience for me. The kids took such ownership of the project it was amazing.
As member artists I think we’re building EBCA as a solid entity in our communities, slowly more and more people are knowing who we are and what we’re about. The EBCA studio tour is incredibly rewarding for me because I teach, interact and serve as a resource for people who come to my studio. Being an EBCA member has taught me a lot about non-profit management and volutneerism. I am an EBCA member because the organization is an important commumity resource, I feel it’s needed in our communities, I enjoy the community of artists, it adds to my purpose on this planet." ~ Rita Vali, Ceramics
- "What I have learned from other artists in the group has been a sense of perspective; their view of a different concept.
As President of the group for seven years and founder of the organization,
it was necessary to have a certain vision of what the goals were to be,
and it turned out to be extremely useful to be open to different frames of reference." ~ David Beumee, Pottery, EBCA Founder
