Welcome Lorrie Caplan

We are happy to welcome watercolor and acrylic artist Lorrie Caplan of Longmont.  Her work is characterized by loose, abstract forms with vibrant color.  Her work has appeared at NCAR, National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder Community Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, Historic Highlands Building in Boulder, and the Asian Art and Film Festival 2006 in Aurora, CO.  EBCA is please to have Lorrie join us this year for our 11th Annual Studio Tour.

Chris Cain joins EBCA from his photography studio in Louisville.  We are pleased to welcome Chris to our growing membership of talented artists in East Boulder County.  He adds a new perspective on the photographic art resulting in wise, nostalgic images

New Member Carol Watkins

We are pleased to welcome contemporary fiber artist Carol Watkins to EBCA.  Carol brings an interesting new approach to fiber arts to EBCA with her blen of digital technology and traditional needle arts. As Carol states, "I strive to create art that connects each of us to nature and the world around us.  I use art as my means of communication just as a writer uses words.  I hope to share my vision and awaken others love of nature through imagery created in fiberart."

Judy Sanchez EBCA Photographer

Judy Sanchez is our newst photographer to join EBCA.  We are happy to welcome her to the 2010 studio tour.  Sanchez draws inspiration for her work from her childhood growing up on her grandparents' ranch in New Mexico.

Welcome to Robert Castellino

EBCA welcomes accomplished photographer Robert Castellino to our membership.  He specializes in wildlife and nature photography in addition to portraits.  Robert has been in Lafayette for a number of years, was hired by the Indian Peaks Golf Club to photograph their course and has developed a successful art career.  We are pleased to have him as an EBCA member.

EBCA Call for Artists 2010

East Boulder County Artists (EBCA) is a diverse group, composed of artists from Front Range Communities. We are now accepting applications for new artists for the 2010 Studio Tour.  For forms and information visit www.EBCAcolorado.org/join-ebca.  Call Joseph Sikora at 303-604-2741 with questions.

The deadline for application is January 15, 2010.

Call for Artists Holiday Show 2009

5th ANNUAL EBCA HOLIDAY SHOW and SALE CALL FOR ENTRIES FOR ARTISTS

Where:
The vacated Crawdaddy’s Toy shop at Forest Park in Lafayette, SE corner of Hwy 42 (95th st) and Arapahoe.
This 1700 sq ft space is brightly lit w/ wood floors and plenty of natural light.

When:
Dec 4,5,6 and possibly 11,12,13, in December. Hours approximately Friday 5-9, Sat and Sun 10-6.  Reception will be held Friday the 4th – food and wine.

Why:
This Annual Fundraiser gives our patrons a chance to shop under one roof.  20% of proceeds go directly to EBCA activities.  This is a very important source of funding for EBCA.  Over the years, sales have ranged from $7000- $12,000.  Gives, you the artists, a venue to sell Holiday priced artwork, and a chance to mingle with other EBCA artists.

Who:
All EBCA members and other artists and fine crafters working in all media can apply.  Only original art work will be considered.

What:
Our staff will hang the show like a Gallery- we have display cubes and tables.  Back stock is encouraged and storage is provided.
Artwork priced between $20 and $150 tends to sell best at this event.  Drop off and check in, and pick up times will be available.  EBCA handles all sales, charges at a central cashier.  Artists are asked to provide packaging for sold artwork.

APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED:  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY November 6th.

Fees:

  • $10 Non-refundable Application fee by check made payable to EBCA for non-EBCA members.
  • $100 Show Fee due upon receipt of acceptance.
  • 20% Percentage of sales deducted from total sales by EBCA members,
  • 30% percentage of sales deducted from sales by non-EBCA members.

** Participants are required to work approx 6hr. shift cashiering, wrapping, restocking, set up/clean up crew.

Included in your application fee is:

  • Priemere East Boulder county Location, close to Lafayette, Louisville, Longmont, Erie and Superior, and Boulder.
  • Beautiful postcard announcement – approx 10,000 to be printed.  Electronic pdf version for email invites.
  • Press releases to newspapers, media, and organizations
  • Posting on radio and news calendars
  • Signage provided two weeks before sale starts
  • Poster displays
  • Listing on EBCA website
  • General Liability insurance
  • Wine at the reception

How to Apply:

digital images (jpeg format, less than 1 MB each, 300 DPI
resolution). Current EBCA members do not have to submit images.

Important Dates:
10/25 Application/images/ $10 non EBCA application fee due,$100 Participation fee for everyone
10/30 - All applicants notified of Jury decisions
11/9 – postcards and posters ready for distribution
12/3 – morningn 12/4 Sale set-up
12/4,5,6 SALE and reception
12/11,12,13 SALE possibly
12/21  checks sent to artists for sales


Each artists is required to work 6 hrs.
Each artist must provide an inventory sheet for all artwork.  This sheet will be provided w/ instructions upon acceptance.  All 2D work must have hangers taped to the back.

EBCA  retains the right to make all final merchandising
decisions.

Welcom to Theresa Beckemeyer

Theresa Beckemeyer is a wonderful addition to EBCA's growing group of diverse and talented East Boulder County arists.  Theresa has a solid fine art background having studied at the University of Colorado, Art Student League of Denver and Colorado Art Academy.  Currently she is studying under the exprienced Colorado painter, Ron Hicks.  Theresa shared a little with us about her inspiration and technique saying, "What I most admire about these painters is their ability to make the painting flow, to suggest motion.  I strive to capture their ease of brushstrokes and flow of color, to honor the beauty of everyday life and to help people smile."

Linda Ehlers, New EBCA Artist

We are pleased to welcome stained glass artist, Linda Ehlers, to EBCA.  Linda is based in Superior and has been workin in stained glass for over 20 years.  She brings a wealth of talent and a new medium to the group.  As Linda explains she got started as an artist, "In 1986, after graduating from college with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in Massachusetts, I took up the art of stained glass as a hobby to give myself a break from math and computers."

Welcome Jen Voegtli

EBCA welcomes fused glass artist, Jen Voegtli, to our membership.  She is crafts jewlery and functional items for the home like bowls and plates.  As Jen explains she works with a range of materials from, "fusible dichroic glass, millefiori, stained glass, and glass frit, in an attempt to create interesting visual textures and patterns in my pieces."
