About David Beumee

Throwing porcelain clay on a potter's wheel provides the possibility for a special kind of refinement in form and line to the pottery that I make. How I am able to manage the marriage of surface decoration and glaze color to those forms is an endless challenge and source of delight. The more I explore porcelain clay, the more possibilities open in front of me, and it is in the pace and rhythm of each day that I find my strength. Through constant attention and practice of my art, access to a place of not knowing sometimes occurs, and it is from the space out of time that my best and most creative expression appears. My life is in service to beauty as I try to express through shape and form, line, surface, and color, the thoughts, hopes and prayers welling forth from the beauty in my own heart. I am a potter. Clay is my life. My goal is to create pieces that allow people to recall a place of beauty.
